Brighten Up Your Life!

When I was first searching for clothes, I only looked at things that were plain. I was so afraid that what I was going to buy was going to not fit into the "conservative" category. I hardly glanced out stylish, or colorful clothes. I didn't know what to search for and so I put off actually buying things for a good month or so. I found one shirt that I loved. The only issue? It was far more colorful than anything I've found before! Did it fit berry guideline? Yes. Was it modest? Yes. Did I buy it? No. Why? I was afraid.

A week or so later I went shopping again. This time I said a prayer before I went and asked Heavenly Father to help me find clothes appropriate amd cute that made me feel good and not plain. During that shopping trip I found a shirt that I fell in love with. It fit every guideline, it was modest, and it was my style. And that's when it hit me.

It's okay to wear colors. It's okay to wear patterns, it's okay to show your personality in your clothing. I think the word "conservative" scares so many of us that we forget its okay to be who we are meant to be! Heavenly Father knows that we, as sisters, need to feel beautiful. He understands that wearing boring, blocky, drab outfits does not make us feel beautiful.

On the missionary guideline for dress and grooming there is this quote, "You can dress attractively without being immodest. Within the Lord’s guidelines, there is room for you to be lively, vibrant, and beautiful both in your dress and in your actions." -Thomas S. Monson. He says lively, vibrant, and beautiful!!!

So, for you sisters just starting out, or worried your selections are too colorful amd too bright, remember this quote. Don't be afraid to be lively, vibrant and when you do I promise you will be beautiful!
